Welcome to my online portfolio!
My name is Taylor Dolan. I grew up in Brick, New Jersey and have lived there my whole life. I have always been passionate about creating art, whether it be visual arts or performing arts. I attended OCVTS Performing Arts Academy High School as a vocal major and had experience with musical and technical theatre, vocal training, instrument training, music theory, acting, and dance. After graduating high school, I attended Ocean County College and obtained my Associates of Art. I took classes such as painting and drawing there and realized through taking these classes that I wanted to continue studying in the visual art field. Around this time, I worked at Michael’s for around three years. At Michael’s, I was asked to take on teaching art classes to children and adults with a variety of learning needs and hosted birthday parties, too. In teaching classes at Michael’s, I found that I really enjoyed teaching art. The experience was extremely rewarding, and I felt a special bond with all the people who attended my classes. I felt from teaching the classes that I found a possible profession I could thrive in.
This experience influenced me on picking a major where I could incorporate visual arts and teaching upon starting school at Stockton University. I began attending Stockton University in Spring of 2020, and graduated in May of 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with a K-12 Teaching Certification. I also have my substitute certification and will shortly have my Language Arts Middle School Certification.
This site, K12 Artsy, functions as a portfolio, which includes pieces I have created independently in my free time and for classes I have taken throughout my educational career. It also allows those interested, such as employers, to get to know me, see my art, and understand how I will use my experience and knowledge I have obtained in becoming an art teacher.
