My first photography course was at Stockton University in Spring 2021. The course involved taking photos for various topics such as Light, Focus, Time, Depth of Field, and Still Life. The course allowed me to take black and white photos and edit them using Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. I utilized a professional Nikon camera and learned how to manipulate the controls to get the desired effects, as well as applied methods to edit the images using Adobe software.

The course involved learning about the processes involving camera settings, the darkroom, and how to edit photos through changing exposure, contrast, color levels, focus, and shadows and highlights. The course also allowed me to learn the mathematics and proportions regarding how to adjust the camera settings so they will have the best results when taking photos in specific scenarios.

My experience with photography has allowed me to notice and appreciate the beauty in the simplest of things. It allowed me to have a whole new perspective on how light and shadows form on objects and how a change of view or scale can make an object look completely different.
